The church is the community of believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. In continuity with the people of God in Old Testament times, we are called out from the world; and we join together for worship, fellowship, instruction in the Word, the celebration of the Lord's Supper, service to humanity, and the worldwide proclamation of the gospel.
The church is Christ's body on earth, indwelt by the Holy Spirit and commissioned to continue His ministry. It is both a local fellowship of believers and a worldwide family united by faith, baptism, and mission. In the church, God's people find nurture, accountability, and the gifts needed for service.
Christ is the head of the church, and its authority rests in Him and in the Scriptures. The church exists not for itself but for the world, called to make disciples of all nations. Where the church is faithful to its Lord, it becomes a visible sign of God's kingdom—a community of love, truth, and hope.
