God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in Creation, incarnation, and redemption. He is as much a person as are the Father and the Son. He inspired the writers of Scripture, filled Christ's life with power, draws and convicts human beings, and transforms those who respond to the gospel.
The Holy Spirit is the source of spiritual life and renewal. He guides believers into all truth, produces the fruit of Christian character, and bestows gifts for the building up of the church. Where the Spirit is present, there is unity, worship, and effective witness to the world.
The Spirit's work is to glorify Jesus Christ and to apply the benefits of His saving work to the hearts of men and women. He seals believers for the day of redemption and empowers them to live in obedience to God's will. Through the Holy Spirit, God continues to speak, lead, and sustain His people until the end of time.
