The Experience of Salvation

In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God.

10 Salvation

In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, Substitute and Example.

This saving faith comes through the Word of God and is accompanied by repentance, confession, and a willingness to forsake sin. When we accept Christ, we are justified—declared righteous in God's sight—and born again by the Spirit. The old life of self-centeredness gives way to a new life centered in Christ.

The experience of salvation is both an event and a lifelong relationship. Assured of pardon and acceptance, the believer grows in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Salvation includes forgiveness, transformation, and the promise of eternal life. It is God's gift, received by faith, and sustained by His faithful love.
