By baptism we confess our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and testify to our death to sin and of our purpose to walk in newness of life. Thus we acknowledge Christ as Lord and Saviour, become His people, and are received as members by His church.
Baptism is a public act, performed by immersion in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It follows instruction in the Word of God and acceptance of its teachings. Through baptism the believer identifies with Christ's death and resurrection and enters into covenant relationship with God's people.
Baptism does not save apart from faith, but it is the biblical way of expressing faith and joining the community of believers. It marks the beginning of a new life of obedience and discipleship. The church welcomes those who have been baptized as fellow members, responsible to support and encourage one another in the Christian journey.
